Queensland Government commences investigating the value of hosting the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2032.

Delegation from all levels of government meets with the International Olympic Committee President and other senior representatives to receive detailed briefing on prospect of hosting a future Olympic and Paralympic Games.

- Queensland Government releases an executive summary of the Value Proposition Assessment which found that hosting the 2032 Games is feasible with financial and operational services support from all three levels of government.
- Queensland Government commits to pursue hosting the 2032 Games, if all levels of government provide appropriate financial support.

International Olympic Committee announces that Brisbane, Queensland has entered into ‘continuous dialogue’.
February
2021
International Olympic Committee releases feasibility assessment on Brisbane, Queensland and announces it has entered into ‘targeted dialogue’ with ‘preferred host’ status.

Games Delivery Partners meet with the International Olympic Committee’s Future Host Commission and submit a final response to the Future Host Questionnaire.

Go for Gold Fund launched - $100 million over four years to build and upgrade school sport infrastructure and provide school sport equipment aimed at increasing student activity and participation in sport across all Queensland schools.

Intergovernmental Agreement on the 2032 Games signed by the Australian and Queensland governments to establish an enduring partnership and fund key projects and initiatives which support the successful delivery of the Games and its benefits.

- Hopes and Dreams survey closes capturing more than 12,000 hopes and dreams across the state, nation and Oceania.
- 500 of Australia’s best and brightest community and business leaders, sport stars and school leaders shared their boldest ideas as part of the Brisbane 2032 Legacy Forum.

- 680 schools across Queensland announced to receive up to $5,000 in sporting equipment as part of the Go for Gold Fund – Round 1. Go for Gold Round 2 opens offering up to $5 million for infrastructure upgrades.

Legislation passed to establish the Games Venue and Legacy Delivery Authority.

- Legislation passed to: -rename the Games Venue and Legacy Delivery Authority to the Games Independent Infrastructure and Coordination Authority -allow for the appointment of a Board with regional representation and commencement of a 100 Day Review of Games infrastructure.
