Record health budget announced for Gold Coast
More than $2.4 billion has been allocated to the Gold Coast Health and Hospital Service in the 2024–25 State Budget.
This funding announcement comes as a virtual flythrough of the future Coomera Hospital was released on 29 May 2024 following the Gold Coast Community Cabinet.
Once built, the new $1.3 billion hospital will deliver more than 400 beds and world-class health care for the burgeoning northern Gold Coast community.
The virtual tour reveals a patient’s point of view when walking through the entrance, taking in the proposed inpatient unit, reception, waiting areas and shops.
The design and models of care for the future facility have been developed in collaboration with clinicians, consumers and community representatives.
Progress on the project has been significant and early works, which began in late-2023, are expected to continue until the end of the year.
Construction completion for the new hospital is forecast to be in the second half of 2027.
The hospital will sit on the elevated land adjoining the Coomera Train Station with convenient access for patients and the community.
