Health Care Card

Every child in care is eligible for a Health Care Card either in their own name or by being added to your Health Care Card if you have one. It entitles the child to cheaper medicine under the PBS and provides access to various other concessions from government and private organisations.

As the child’s carer, you can make the application for a Foster Child Health Care Card. You will need to complete a claim form, and provide confirmation of identity documents for you and the child in your care. It will automatically be reissued every year.
