Your approved counselling and psychological care
As a redress recipient in Queensland, the first 20 hours of counselling and psychological care (CPC) will be available to you upon request. If you and your Redress Practitioner agree that further hours are required, contact the Redress Counselling Program Team by phone or email to discuss. You may also wish to submit a CPC Additional Hours Application form and email it to redresscounselling@dcssds.qld.gov.au.
An additional 20 hours of CPC can be approved at a time, up to a total of 100 hours. If you still need support after you have received 100 hours, up to 20 hours of CPC may be approved for you to use each year after that. There is an approved schedule of payments for Redress Practitioners. Your Redress Practitioner will bill the Redress Counselling Program Team for the sessions they provide to you.
Your Redress Practitioner can start providing sessions to you after the Redress Counselling Program Team lets them know how many hours of CPC have been approved for them to provide to you. They can only be paid for the number of hours that have been preapproved.
If you are not sure how many hours of counselling have been approved for you to use or how many hours you have left, you can contact the Redress Counselling Program Team. With your permission, your Redress Practitioner can also find out this information for you.
After each CPC session, your Redress Practitioner will ask you to sign a form to confirm you attended. If your sessions are online, you won’t have to sign every time, they will discuss other ways to confirm your attendance.
