Supervision

As an apprentice or trainee, you must be supervised in the workplace by an appropriately qualified person who works in the same workplace during the same working hours as you.

Due to increased safety risk in the electrical industry, supervisors of electrical apprentices will have stricter guidelines.

What makes a good supervisor

A capable supervisor:

  • sets clear expectations
  • make you feel supported
  • delivers high quality training and mentoring
  • demonstrates rapport and understanding.

Lack of supervision

If you are not being supervised at all, or by an appropriate person:

  • speak with your employer immediately
  • contact your training organisation if you feel there has been no change
  • contact us, via Apprenticeships Info, if it can't be resolved.

This is very important and should not be postponed.
