Visitors
Visitors who stay longer than 4 weeks
If your visitors stay longer than 4 weeks their income will be included in your rent assessment and your rent may increase.
You will need to tell us:
- your visitor’s name and date of birth
- the date their visit started, and
- evidence of their income e.g. payslips, Centrelink Income Statement
Visitors who stay less than 4 weeks
If your visitor stays less than 4 weeks your rent will not change. However, you will still need to tell the department:
- your visitors name
- the date their visit started, and
- how long they will stay for.
Your visitors' behaviour
Tenants are responsible for the behaviour of their visitors.
Visitors must not:
- abuse or harass neighbours
- disturb the peace, comfort and privacy of neighbours, or
- have loud parties or fight
Important: we will give you a breach notice if your visitors cause problems.
What is a breach notice?
A breach notice is given when the rules that are listed in the Tenancy Agreement are broken. You are responsible for your visitors’ behaviour and will be given a breach notice if visitors cause any problems. The breach notice gives tenants 16 days to make sure visitors are no longer causing any problems and have improved their behaviour.
