New investment and big ideas supporting exciting future for Mackay

The Queensland Government’s commitment to Mackay was emphasised in April as Premier Steven Miles led his Cabinet to meet community members and discuss local priorities.

The Mackay Community Cabinet was an opportunity for the Premier, Ministers, Assistant Ministers, and local members to engage directly with residents, workers, and business owners, including 115 scheduled one-to-one deputation meetings.

They also took part in a town hall style meeting, answering questions to a packed audience with 147 residents registered to attend.

The Queensland Government is investing hundreds of millions of dollars in the region, including the $250 million Mackay Base Hospital expansion, the Mackay Ring Road and other connecting roads, additional police officers, and support for Mackay’s sugar cane industry.
