Moreton Bay embraces Community Cabinet
Moreton Bay hosted a successful Community Cabinet in July 2024 with one of the largest local turnouts to date for the expanded 2024 program.
There were 82 bookings for meetings with Cabinet Ministers, and more than 300 locals registered to attend the town hall-style event.
The program provided more opportunities for Queenslanders based in Moreton Bay to engage with the Premier and Cabinet Ministers to discuss the 2024–25 State Budget and local issues and opportunities to support their region.
We are listening to Queenslanders and delivering the biggest cost of living support package in history through the 2024–25 State Budget, including:
- $1000 off every electricity bill for all Queensland households (with a further $300 from the Federal Government taking the relief to $1300) and a further $372 rebate for eligible concession holders
- 20 per cent reduction in vehicle registration fees
- 50 cent public transport fares across all Translink public transport services from 5 August 2024
- $200 FairPlay vouchers for sport and active recreation activities
- increasing the threshold for the first homeowner concession on transfer duty from $500,000 to $700,000.
Moreton Bay is one of the fastest growing regions in South East Queensland, which is why the government is focused on delivering world-class, accessible healthcare and infrastructure closer to home. The new Bribie Island Satellite Hospital is part of this plan.
As more people make the move to this scenic part of Queensland, we know traffic volumes are increasing. We plan to tackle this challenge by partnering with the City of Moreton Bay to improve congestion in and around Morayfield’s Buchanan Road.
The Queensland Government is protecting the economic prosperity and idyllic lifestyle of the Moreton Bay region by investing in community safety. This includes investing in two new state-of-the-art Queensland Fire and Rescue (QFR) trucks to complement the region’s new QFR Station.
Thank you Moreton Bay!
