Energy savings and eco push for Rockhampton bakery
Rockhampton’s Hayman’s Dean Street Bakery, serving up delectable treats to Frenchville locals, is among the first to be awarded funding through the new $7.1 million Manufacturing Energy Efficiency Grant (MEEG).
The grant program is helping Queensland manufacturers transition to a low-carbon future.
The bakery has been awarded more than $11,000 which will help reduce its carbon footprint by implementing energy efficiency measures that have resulted in reduced energy costs.
Businessowner Sam Hayman expects to save approximately $2400 per year on the bakery’s electricity bill, with reduced energy wastage and improved overheads in the process.
Round 1 of the MEEG program is open until 30 June 2024 or until funding is exhausted.
