Fee change
Australian disability parking permits are now free. This is part of the Queensland Government's commitment to deliver cost of living relief to Queenslanders with a disability. The Department of Transport and Main Roads will not refund payments made with permit applications prior to 1 July 2025.
Replace a disability parking permit
You can use the disability parking permit application form or online service to request a replacement for a lost, stolen or damaged disability parking permit. You don’t need to see your health professional to certify the application.

We'll send you a notice in the mail about 6 weeks before your permit expires.
To reapply for your Australian disability parking permit you need to meet the eligibility criteria.
You don’t need a health professional to certify the application if you have a 5-year Australian disability parking permit and your application is received within 3 months of the expiry date.
If you have a permit for a temporary condition (6 to 12 months) you will need to apply as a new applicant when your permit expires.

Reapply for your red permit
We'll send you a notice by post about 6 weeks before your permit expires.
To reapply for your red permit, you will need to meet the following red permit eligibility criteria.
Eligibility
You must continue to live in Queensland and 1 of the following must apply:
- your functional mobility is severely impaired as a result of a permanent or temporary loss of the use of one or both legs
- you have a physical condition that is detrimentally affected as a result of walking 100m.
If you let your red permit expire for more than 3 months, you will need to apply for a new Australian disability parking permit and you won’t be eligible for the red permit again.
Renew an expired permit
You need to apply for a new permit if your permit has expired. You may get a fine if you continue using an expired permit.
Change of name
To change your name on your permit, complete a Change of customer details form (F4214) and take the form to your nearest transport and motoring customer service centre.
Change of address
Update your address in person, over the phone, or by mail.
- In person: Visit your nearest transport and motoring customer service centre.
- By phone: Call us on 13 23 80. You will need to provide your name, date of birth, old and new address and disability parking permit number.

Notify us of a deceased permit holder
You can let us know a permit holder has passed away by providing a copy of 1 of the following documents:
- photocopy of the death certificate
- funeral notice
- coroner’s report
- Certificate of Authority issued by the Public Trustee under the Public Trustee Act 1978.
