Service provider – Authorised marriage celebrant

Hello and welcome. My name is Sarah and I'm from the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages here in Queensland.

Today I'm going to introduce you to our online marriage registration system which is free and easy to use. I'll provide you with an overview of the online system, explain some of the key features and benefits, and I'll show you how to sign up.

Let's get started.

The registry's online marriage registration system is designed to make it quicker and easier for authorised marriage celebrants to register marriages in Queensland.

If you're a celebrant, you can use the system to create, amend, print, and submit all marriage registration forms online without posting hard copy forms.

The system is fully automated which means that once you've entered a party's details it automatically generates the NOIM and all other key documents. There's no need to enter the information again as you would with handwritten forms.

You can then print all these forms straight from the system to perform your ceremony.

The system also lets you order a standard marriage certificate, or commemorative package, and easily transfer a notice of intended marriage to another online celebrant.

We've designed the system to help you work flexibly. It's mobile compatible so it can be used with an iPad or other tablet device, and because it's internet based you can access it wherever there's a wi-fi connection.

You can enter multiple marriage registrations at the same time and it's easy to update the records you create as the system provides all records a reference number so you can find them quickly.

We've also made it easier to track the progress of your registrations. You'll receive regular status updates by email or SMS as your registrations progress.

You can be confident that the information you enter on the system is protected. Developed in-house by the registry's technical team it's a fully secure system. So you can scan, and upload signed official marriage documents to us with confidence. The system will store all records of marriages as they are entered.

Marriage data remains available to celebrants for 7 years as per the legislative time frames.

So, if you like what you've heard I'll now explain how to sign up.

First visit our website at qld.gov.au/onlinemarriages to go to the sign-up page. This page will explain what you need to do to sign up as an online service provider.

You will need to provide your authorised marriage celebrate number, 100 points of ID, a secure email address, and have a mobile phone.

As this is an online Queensland Government service you will also need to create a QGov account if you don't have one already.

If you already have a QGov account, you must sign up using your existing account.

Finally, a few words of reassurance. While the online marriage registration system is designed to make registering marriages quicker and easier, rest assured the registry has a dedicated team to assist celebrants with their enquiries.

This means you can access support whenever you need it either via email or over the phone.

Our website also tells you everything you need to know about using the system, including information about the roles and responsibilities, as well as a comprehensive user guide.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us, or take a look at the information on our website.

We hope to see you using the online marriage registration system soon.
