  • receive status updates (up to when we accept the record)
  • receive fast notification about any issues we have registering a death.

What the system offers

  • Track the status of a death registration—see when a registration has been accepted by us and processing has started.
  • Upload the cause of death medical certificate or other supporting documents with the death registration.
  • Streamlined communication—receive notifications from us about any changes required to complete a registration.
  • Our compliance team will be able to return a registration to you if we find any errors or missing supporting documents before we accept it.
  • Self-service—recall and amend a death registration application before we accept it.
  • Postage options—you will be able to select different postage types at the time of a certificate application.
  • Print a registration report to confirm the information provided on a death registration.
  • Your agency will receive a single monthly invoice for death certificates.

Batch upload pilot

We will be piloting the batch upload functionality from the second week of October 2024. A group of software developers and funeral directors will be helping us.

You will see the function available on the portal and in the user guide—please do not try using it (unless a pilot user). We will let you know when the pilot has been successfully completed.

If your agency would like to use the batch upload functionality, your software developer will need to build it into your software. Have your developer email us BDMserviceprovider@justice.qld.gov.au.
