Outreach program
The Office of Fair Trading (OFT) aims to deliver a high standard of customer service to the whole of Queensland. Our outreach program takes our message into rural and regional parts of the state.
We have made more than 300 visits to about 170 towns to:
- give information sessions to schools, community groups and service organisations
- visit local businesses to give information and advice
- meet with organisations and service providers to discuss any issues within the local area
- undertake compliance checks on local businesses and licensees we regulate
- receive consumer complaints.
During the visits we call in to retail businesses to provide information and advice. We meet with community groups and schools about consumer rights and responsibilities including:
- refunds
- consumer guarantees
- online shopping
- scams
- lay-bys
- unsolicited consumer agreements.
We also accept complaints during these visits.
An OFT inspector also attends these visits to undertake compliance checks of industries we regulate.
