You may need legal help if you’re experiencing domestic and family violence. There are many organisations who can give legal help and advice.

Emergency or crisis support

DV Connect is a domestic violence hotline that offers free, professional assistance such as counselling, intervention, transport and emergency accommodation for people in danger from a violent partner or family member. Call 1800 811 811 (24 hours, 7 days a week).

Non-urgent police incidents

For non-urgent incidents contact Policelink and speak to a Client Service Officer by calling 131 444.

Find a lawyer, law firm or barrister

Legal Aid Queensland is funded by the Queensland Government to give legal help to financially disadvantaged people about criminal, family and civil law matters. Call 1300 65 11 88, Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4.30pm (AEST) excluding public holidays.
