Regional Waste Management Plan Coordination Program
The Regional Waste Management Plan Coordination Program (RWMP Coordination Program) aims to support groups of geographically-aligned councils to implement their RWMP through the engagement of a coordinator.
This program will support the implementation of the regional waste management plans that have been developed for multiple regions across Queensland.
These plans identify and prioritise waste and resource recovery activities, programs, and necessary infrastructure, which will contribute to achieving targets in the Queensland Waste Management and Resource Recovery Strategy.
Applications are open for the following regional Queensland areas:
- Far North Queensland
- North Queensland
- North West Queensland
- Greater Whitsundays
- Central Queensland
- Wide Bay Burnett
- Darling Downs
- South West Queensland
- Western Queensland.

Applications close 5pm, Tuesday 31 December 2024 (extended).
Approved Program funding recipients
To date, the following organisations have been approved for funding under the program:
- Mareeba Shire Council, on behalf of the Far North Queensland Regional Organisation of Councils
- Central Queensland Regional Organisation of Councils
- Fraser Coast Regional Council, on behalf of the Wide Bay Burnett region’s councils.
- Townsville City Council, on behalf of the North Queensland Regional Organisation of Councils.
This program is funded through the Recycling and Jobs Fund.
