Help with your rego, fines and transport records

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) offer a range of options to assist customers experiencing or impacted by domestic and family violence.

Registration

Renewals

You can use direct debit to pay your registration renewal and choose from a 1, 3, 6 or 12-month registration period allowing for more manageable payments.

Registration concessions are also available for eligible applicants, including holders of Queensland Pensioner Concession Cards issued by the Department of Human Services.

If you are the sole registered operator of a vehicle, you can apply for a ‘No Renewal Allowed’ restriction to be applied to the registration. This restriction prevents a vehicle’s registration from being renewed, meaning the registration will expire at the end of the current registration period. You can remove the restriction at any time before the expiry if you choose to do so.

To discuss concessions or restricting renewal of your registration, please contact TMR.

Removing your name from a registration

If you are the registered operator of a vehicle which is no longer in your possession, TMR may be able to assist with removing your name from the registration. To discuss the requirements of removing your name from a registration, please contact TMR.

Fines and financial hardship

Transferal or withdrawal of fines

If you have been incorrectly issued with an infringement, you can nominate the responsible driver online by completing a statutory declaration.

If you have received a State Penalties Enforcement Registry (SPER) enforcement order for a camera-detected infringement or tolling offence that you were not responsible for, you can apply to have the fine withdrawn via the Queensland Revenue Office’s website.

Providing evidence of residency and/or evidence of identity

If you are experiencing displacement or homelessness because of domestic and family violence and cannot provide proof of residency, please attend a TMR location to discuss possible solutions.

If you need to show evidence of identity, you may still be eligible to apply for a TMR-issued identity document (such as a driver license or photo identification card) even if you can’t provide a valid Category A document. You need to have been born in Queensland, and will need to attend a TMR location with as much evidence of your identity as possible to be assessed for eligibility.

You may also be eligible for assistance through Australia Post, such as free mail redirection for up to 12 months or a free post office box for up to 23 months.

Protecting your transport information

If your personal safety is at risk and you are experiencing or impacted by domestic and family violence, you can apply for additional protection of your personal information, such as your name and address.

You can also apply for a ‘No Online Access' restriction to be applied to your TMR record. This restriction prevents the use of any of the TMR online services.

To organise these protections and restrictions, please contact TMR.
