About this program

Queensland Treasury's graduate program is your opportunity to achieve great things for yourself and for Queensland by working with highly skilled professionals in a diverse and flexible environment.

As a GRADStart graduate, you will rotate through different work areas, gain an understanding of Treasury's diverse responsibilities and build a broad range of skills. You'll participate in a variety of training programs including specific skills development and leadership coaching, providing an opportunity to build valuable relationships and networks that will assist your career.

Who we are looking for

As a GRADStart candidate you have a drive to succeed, show initiative, are innovative and have great analytical skills. You think strategically, communicate with influence and are great with people. Your client mindset is balanced with a commitment to delivering excellence in meeting priorities for Queensland communities.

  • data analytics
  • mathematics

  • law
  • commerce
  • business.

We sometimes need specialists from other fields. So, if you want to work at Queensland Treasury, please apply even if your study is outside the core areas above.

Program eligibility

You are eligible to apply if you:

  • have a university undergraduate or postgraduate degree in a discipline listed above
  • have or will have completed a bachelor's degree or higher between January 2023 and February 2026
  • are an Australian or New Zealand citizen
  • are an Australian permanent resident
  • have a visa with unrestricted working rights under Australian immigration law
  • reside in, or be willing to re-locate to Brisbane, for the duration of the program.

Additional information for international students

You are eligible to apply if you:

  • can provide evidence of your visa type, status and entitlements to work prior to starting employment with us. Right to work must be maintained through employment. For more information on right to work and visa conditions visit the Department of Home Affairs
  • have obtained overseas qualification recognition if you received your degree outside of Australia.

Program remuneration and benefits

  • Annual salary between $74,745 and $82,937
  • A permanent Queensland Government job

Our recruitment process

The online application form will ask you several questions so that Treasury can learn more about you. This will include your:

  • personal and demographic information
  • education and qualifications.

Our online platform will take you through cognitive, personality and behavioural testing.

Based on the outcome of your online assessment, you may be selected to participate in an online video interview and assessment.

Selected applicants will be invited to an interview with our GRADStart selection panel at Treasury's 1 William Street, Brisbane workplace. If you are unable to attend in person, a virtual interview can be arranged.

At this stage, Treasury will complete pre-employment screening checks including requesting references, criminal history clearance and confirming you can work in Australia.

Treasury will aim to make offers by mid-September 2025 once all interviews are completed.

Get ready to start your journey as a Queensland Treasury GRADStart graduate. Your induction will start in February 2026.
